Important Insurance and Payment Information
* Have a Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account through your health insurance provider? You likely can use that to pay for your sessions. Check with your insurance provider. You will likely just need a prescription from your doctor stating a medical diagnosis (ie. hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity) that would be helped by seeing a Registered Dietitian.
* All major credit cards accepted via PayPal or Venmo or directly via Stripe.
Change can be hard, and it is difficult to know where to begin, especially when we are looking to make changes around food and movement and other habits. That’s where I come in. Let me help you make positive changes that will improve your health and enhance your life.
Cancellation Policy
I ask that you please try to follow through on and note down the date and time we set for our sessions. Coming to your appointments is a way of respecting and honoring yourself and also me and my time.
I understand that unplanned issues can come up and you may need to cancel or reschedule. I respectfully request that you inform me as soon as you can and that you don’t make this a regular occurrence. I am here to help you and can only do that through our appointments and consistently meeting together.
If for some reason you need to cancel or reschedule, I respectfully ask for scheduled appointments to be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. No shows and/or last-minute cancellations will be charged a $35 fee. If multiple reschedulings and/or no shows occur, please know that we may need to terminate our work together until you are able to prioritize our meetings.
It is very hard for me to implement this formal policy, but I believe that when you reach out to me for help to improve your health you are looking, in part, for someone to hold you accountable. I can’t help you reach your goals and make the changes you desire if you don’t come to your appointments. I appreciate your understanding and respect for my schedule and services.
Frequently asked questions
What is a non-diet dietitian?
A non-diet dietitian focuses on helping individuals develop a healthy relationship with food and body without the use of restrictive diets or a weight loss at all costs goal. They emphasize intuitive eating, Health At Every Size (HAES), and a holistic approach to health.
What is intuitive eating?
Intuitive eating is an evidence-based approach to eating that involves paying attention to internal hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues, respecting your body’s needs, and making food choices that taste and feel good.
What is Health At Every Size (HAES)?
HAES is a public health movement that promotes health based on overall well-being, rather than weight or body size. It emphasizes body acceptance and respect, eating for well-being, life-enhancing movement, and respectful care.
Why don't you just help people lose weight?
While weight loss is the default goal for many, non-diet dietitians focus on improving overall health and well-being without focusing on weight. The scientific research supports that fact that a focus solely on weight loss is not sustainable for most people. A non-diet approach is more sustainable for long-term health.
Will you give me a meal plan?
Meal plans can be restrictive, short-term fixes that don’t teach long-term, sustainable eating principles. They can be impractical, including foods you may not like and recipes that are unrealistic or expensive. Instead, they help individuals learn to listen to their bodies and make balanced food choices based on their individual needs and preferences.
How does a non-diet approach differ from traditional dieting?
Traditional diets often promise short-term results but fail to change long-term attitudes towards food. Intuitive eating and the non-diet approach shifts the focus from rigid dieting and weight loss to a more flexible and sustainable path to improve health and well-being. Rather than relying solely on diet plans, weight-loss medications or quick-fix wellness programs, this approach offers a more holistic path to nutrition and true physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
What are the benefits of a non-diet approach?
A non-diet approach helps you enjoy a better relationship with food and your body, reducing stress around eating and encouraging a balanced, healthy lifestyle. It boosts your overall mental well-being and body image, and reduced disordered eating. Plus, it supports healthier eating, better digestion, and has also been shown to help lower cholesterol.
How do we get started?
First, schedule a free discovery call to make sure what I offer fits your needs Next, if you are ready, schedule initial appointment We will schedule follow up sessions at your pace and I will offer resources, tools, education, and lots of support along the way.
